Crist sounds more like he is senile than anything with his contradictory stance. However, it is interesting that some people interpret him as the worst form of Republican while others give him credit for being open. He really deserves neither as he is only advocating inaction.

He really should decide which of the constituents he supports rather than supporting none by taking such an undefined stance.

This whole string of comments by Crist shows perfectly how he is NOTHING but a fence straddler with NO BACKBONE. He’s a completely empty suit with no substance whatsoever. Dr. Sleiburgh,

I welcome the opportunity for earnest discussion. While it is true that I am running for US Senate in Florida, I am by no means a career politician. That being said, it appears that the present proposal will place unsustainable stressors on our Health Care delivery systems. We simply do not have adequate manpower nor infrastructure at this juncture. As for the insurance companies, by re-centering the Patient-Doctor relationship as the core decision-making unit, we can “train” the companies to compete for our business (versus the poor treatment that many of us now receive from insurance companies).

In my humble opinion, we should start over by delineating Heath Care Reform measures (eg, Health Promotion, Disease Prevention, Preventive Medicine protocols) and Health Insurance reform measures (eg, Portability, Tort reform, Health Savings Accounts)… then we can proceed in an orderly and logical manner as we address each issue. With this stepwise and methodical approach, we have a golden opportunity to truly heal America’s Health Care delivery system.

I am a Democrat and I applaud our Republican Governor for keeping an open mind and not goose-stepping to “The Party’s” obstructionist agenda. Politics has always been a game of give and take, but the current Republican Party is so rabidly anti-Obama that it is willing to screw the American people just to deny Obama any opportunity at progress. If we had more politicians like President Obama and Governor Christ, our government might actually make some progress on any number of issues.

Please put your personal agenda to the side. You can’t honestly tell me that the insurance companies we work with have one ounce of care for our patients. The system is broken plain and simple. The plan, although not perfect, is a step in the right direction. I would like to see more TORT in there because I can’t stand defensive medicine but overall it is a very good, first step. I have no idea how you can say it will lead to poor outcomes when we have millions without care or those with it who are constantly denied services, certain procedures, medications, etc. Remember the hipocratic oath my colleague.

The present Health Care “reform” proposal is a travesty. It does not address true measures needed for Health Care reform nor Health Insurance reform. Additionally, it places a tremendous tax burden on our generation and an even greater burden on our children and future generations. Categorically, it is fiscally irresponsible to move forward with the present proposal. Furthermore, it is clinically unsound legislation that will lead to poor outcomes for Patients.
