Crist-Rubio debate on Fox News looks doubtful

by Michael C. Bender | February 11th, 2010

Fox News has invited Florida’s two Republican U.S. Senate candidates to a debate, but the timing could be a problem for at least one.

Marco Rubio has accepted the invitation, but Gov. Charlie Crist raised a potential problem this morning with the March 28 date

“Isn’t that during the session?” Crist told reporters this morning. “We’ll see.”

Lawmakers are scheduled to begin their annual spring lawmaking session on March 2. Among the subjects they’re hoping to tackle in the 60-day session: a potential $3 billion budget shortfall and the state’s historic 11.8 percent unemployment rate.

  1. Reality Says:

Crist is obviously scared of Rubio, and rightfully so. Florida, in turn, should be scared of this tea-bagger Rubio.

It’s funny what short memories everyone have. Conservatives got us in this current mess. Hopefully everyone will have a spark of intelligence and vote for Meek, although Rubio definitely seems like some sort of misguided chosen one. Oh, I can’t wait for the day of deregulation and no federal spending so everything can be exactly like it was in the memorable ’00s!

  2. ricardus Says:

Since when did a session of the legislature command Crist’s attention. Never did before.

  3. Scared to Death Says:

Crist is scared to death of debating Rubio especially on Fox News. Rubio would crush him in front of a big Republican TV audience. This debate will never ever happen.

  4. Pat Says:

With the high unemployment rate, the terrible economy, the disgraced Jim Greer & Co., all of Charlie Crist’s corrupted buddies in jail or heading there. It’s no wonder Charlie won’t show his face. We as citizens need to start asking for the removal of Charlie Crist from this Senate Race. Charlie Crist is an embarassement to the Republican party and should get out of this race (if he thinks he has any kind of a chance at this seat) and run as an independent in the General race. He will NOT win the Republican primary! With every day that goes by and REAL REPUBLICAN’S have an opportunity to see Charlie’s continued lies and flip flooping, makes it another day that thousands of Republican will make sure that Charlie Crist get defeated!!!

  5. Nancy Branch Says:

Crist is going to lose this election, his past speaks for itself. Bye Bye Charlie, the conservative party will send you packing.

  6. re news Says:

It is time for real CHANGE! No more big spenders and moderate do nothing Politicians. Rubio will stand up to Obama and keep Florida safe. Marco Rubio also knows about slowing spending before the USA is bankrupt.

  7. Sally Says:

Crist needs to come out of the closet and debate Marco Rubio like a real man! CharLIE, Come out Come out where ever you are????!!!!
