Crist ousts anti-Sugar deal board member from South Florida Water Management District
by Michael C. Bender | February 24th, 2010Crist today will reappoint Shannon Estenoz and appoint Anne “Sandy” Batchelor-Robjohns, chairwoman of The Batchelor Foundation, and Weston attorney Glenn Waldman
With a March 11 vote scheduled on whether to extend the contract expiration date for the US Sugar deal, Waldman and Batchelor replace Paul Huck, who recused himself from voting on the Sugar before he resigned, and Mike Collins, who was the only governing board member to oppose the deal twice.
Crist said he made the appointments with an eye on the Everglades deal.
“We’re going to keep firing the canon and doing the job,” Crist said.

Why was the anti-sugar member ousted from the board? Now that Charlie has the board slanted in his favor the deal will get its contract expiration date extended. So much for fair and unbiased representation.

I recall reading about Shannon Estonez and her work a while back and I was really impressed. She seems like a really smart person who cares about progressing in South Florida water management.
Makes me wonder what transpired. Hopefully her talents will be applied usefully in some other aspect.

Remember this is the same place Kevin McCarty worked his magic. The Water Managment leaders are incredibly corrupt. Is it time to drain the lake again?

Mike Collins was not OUST from the board. He stated his intentions to not seek reappointment over six months ago and his term comes up at the end of this month. Stop trying to CREATE headlines Bender!

Oh. I see now that Shannon Estonez was re-appointed. Comment #2 is off base.

crist is so determined to get his way about his Everglades restoration act. He will stop at nothing to achieve his dream and our nightmare! Anyone or anything that gets in his way, he will find a way, legal or not, to get it done. I hope these do-gooders that are so concerned about what is happeninig in our area of Florida, and don’t live in the 16 counties in the SFWMD area realize what is happening! When the people of this area are taxed and taxed and taxed, and have nothing left to give, who will pay for all this “progress” then? The same for all of the “progress” of the Lake Okeechobee dike-milllion of dollars are being spent on EXPERIMENTAL techniques to strengthen the dike-the same dike that has been there since the early 1930′s? What a waste of my hard earned money!
