Son of ex-KKK grand wizard renews effort to join Palm Beach County GOP
by George Bennett | January 4th, 2010The son of a former Ku Klux Klan grand wizard is renewing his effort to be seated on the Palm Beach County Republican Executive Committee.
Derek Black, now 20, won a 2008 election to one of 111 executive committee seats. But the party disallowed the election because Black hadn’t signed a party loyalty oath on time.
Now Black is disputing that decision and citing a court ruling on a similar dispute in Miami-Dade.
The Aug. 26 ruling by the 3rd District Court of Appeals upheld a lower court’s order that the Miami-Dade GOP seat 19 people who won elections but were disqualified by the loyalty oath requirement. The appeals court said the Miami-Dade GOP hadn’t given the candidates adequate notice of a new deadline for the loyalty oath.
Black’s attorney, Lee Levenson of Boynton Beach, contends the Palm Beach County GOP failed to tell Black and other candidates of a new Republican Party of Florida requirement that they sign the oath by June 20, 2008 rather than before taking office in December 2008.
Levenson sent a letter to Dinerstein last month that includes a draft of a lawsuit.
“We’ve decided to take the position of ‘Go ahead and sue us,’ ” Dinerstein said. “Our position is that we went out of our way for people to know” about the new loyalty oath deadline.

C’mon Man!!! Go hate in another state.
January 4th, 2010 at 1:09 pm
Why should he be punished for something he had no control of. Leave the kid alone.
January 4th, 2010 at 1:18 pm
What’s the big deal. Doesn’t this guy represent the same ideas as the GOP?
January 4th, 2010 at 1:18 pm
right person, right party. what goes around comes around. this young man sounds like a perfect fit.

Robert Byrd, US Democrat Senator, a former KKK member. Joe Biden, says “you can’t walk into Dunkin Donuts unless you have a slight Indian accent”. Hillary Clinton says “Ghandi, used to own a gas station in St. Louis”. Exactly which “side” is more welcoming of racists?
January 4th, 2010 at 1:48 pm
The tag line announcing this person’s KKK ties has absolutely NOTHING to do with this issue. He didn’t sign a party loyalty oath — they didn’t disallow him because of his family.
Can’t you think of something more appropriate rather than setting him up for more hate?
January 4th, 2010 at 1:53 pm
what his father was or has done should have nothing to do with his son.
I’m very impressed that such a young guy would actually show intrest in politics. Hopefully we will see more of that. Whether we agree with their politics or not.

I personally know Derek Black, and he is a terrific kid, very kind hearted and is always looking for things to help his community. Do not look down on him for his FAMILIES former past. Just because his father was a former member has nothing to do with him as an individual.
I support Derek in all his endeavors.
January 4th, 2010 at 2:09 pm
I see two ironic components to this article:
1. Derek’s last name is interesting, considering his family’s lineage.
2. Derek’s attorney is Jewish (also considering his father’s extra-curricular activities).

Sid,
We need candidates for county seats up for re-election. Commissioners, councilpeople, mayors.
Wake UP! It’s prime time to elect repubs, but Sid is sitting on his behind, doing NOTHING, but talking.
Get rid of Sid. Find another person to run the repub party, cause Sid can’t find candidates!

When the “son” says that jews are to blame for everything (heard him say it myself) and that they shouldnt allow a Ni$%#@ to be the chairman of teh RNC…There is a problem. And Termack and poetic… the party is about values and morals and being personally responible for YOUR actions. Just because someone ttells you to get off your butt and get a job doesnt make you a racist.

The Loyalty Oath scam was used all over the state of Florida to disqualify new members from voting on the REC chairmen because the control freaks knew the new members were going to vote out the Jim Greer cronies. Actually the change of dates the loyalty oaths had to be signed all began as a result of the Ron Paul people. One court has already ruled the newly elected REC members were not given adequate notice they had to sign the oaths by June 20th 2008. The Chairmen of each REC was notified but failed to notify the new members strictly in a controlled effort to block their votes.

Let the kid in. He couldn’t do any worse than the rest of them have done the last couple of years.

What are people afraid of? Black got an election stolen from him. We need to set an example of fairness and integrity no matter what. We need to stand tall and don’t use tactics that make every person despise and mistrust our political system. If the man won then give him his office.

Every developer I have met has been from some other state. People come to Florida to exploit our beautiful state to line their pockets and destroy our natural resources. Sid Dinerstein is no different… He is just in a different profession. He grew up in Crown Heights, Brooklyn. He moved here and took our Republican Party away from real Floridians like myself. I don’t care about race or faith. It’s time that Floridians have representation from a person that was born here, grew up here, and lives here unlike Wexler. Mr. Black won and in America and in Florida that word means what it says. It doesn’t mean you won, but…

I have been a life long Republican, and Mr. Dinerstein I don’t agree with your tactics. It reminds me of the Democratic Party or Acorn. Your quote bothered me, ‘Go ahead and sue us’?!?!?!? Us is the people you represent and we didn’t give you permission to run our county like Mayor Daley in Chicago would. I am embarassed!
January 5th, 2010 at 8:32 am
That was quote Sid was condescending . The Republican Party is supposed to help represent the common man and working Americans. Working class people cannot afford legal representation, and your answer suggests class division.
January 5th, 2010 at 8:38 am
My father did some things that many people didn’t agree with… However, I am not my father. I am a family man, a business owner, a charitable giver, and I am involved in the community. People didn’t hold me accountable for the actions of my father.
Why is The Post and Sid Dinerstein holding Derek Black accountable for things he never did.
Are all Germans today guilty of The Holocaust? No, they have become an ally, and so have the Japanese.
This isn’t right!
January 5th, 2010 at 8:44 am
This is a direct quote from Sid Dinerstein… Do what you say Sid!
Rudeness has replaced civility in our political discourse. Too many people love their Party more than their Country. According to author Sid Dinerstein, we need to “Grow Up!” and develop an ADULTS ONLY approach to the problems in America.
January 5th, 2010 at 8:52 am
Dinerstein has become the kind of person he wrote about in his book Adults Only. He has lost touch with the common man, and hasn’t had to work for a paycheck since he moved to Florida in 1990. We need someone that represents REAL PEOPLE.
He wrote:Lord Acton was right. ‘Power corrupts. Absolute power corrupts absolutely.’ Realizing that Lord Acton was right, across party lines, led to the writing of this book… an effort to retrieve lost power on behalf of the citizenry.”

“Our young people will vote ten times a week for the American Idol and never once for the American President.”
We have a young person that has taken an interest and now Sid-Licous wants to put him back in front of the television to vote 10 times for an American Idol.
Don’t give up Derek Black! You will encounter many hypocrits like Sid Dinerstein over the course of your life. Stay focused on your goals and dreams!
January 5th, 2010 at 9:08 am
Sid, I voted for Derek Black because he knocked on my door and showed concern for the community I live in.
According to a BBC reporter your community looks nothing like mine.’Walking inside the opulent doors of Sid Dinerstein’s house in West Palm Beach Gardens is like strolling on to the set of Dynasty or Dallas.’ Andy Gallacher is the BBC’s Miami correspondent

You may be Jewish and that’s ok as long as you are an American 1st Mr. Dinerstein. Your faith is shaping policy, and it should be your citizenship that shapes your policy. Derek Black deserves that seat. You are selling America out Sid Dinerstein.
Palm Beach County Republican Chairman Sid Dinerstein, who maintains Obama’s policies are hurting Israel and helping its enemies, calls Wexler a “sellout” for supporting Obama. “My major issue is that he and I are Jewish and he used his Judaism and his position to give cover to the anti-Israel position of President Obama,” Dinerstein said.

Are you people stupid or what his Father was the Grand Wizard at one time. Peoople bashed Obama because his the Pastor of his church had some things to say but he didn’t hate people! This young man is 20 years old so he hasn’t had enough time to develop a true understanding of the world, I don’t care how smart you think he is –he’s 20 and racists are voting for him…Wake up you ignorant fools. And I originally from FL…
