Rubio defends opposition to proposed bank tax
by Michael C. Bender | January 18th, 2010Republican U.S. Senate candidate Marco Rubio penned an editorial in the National Review this morning laying out his opposition to President Obama’s bank tax, which we wrote about here and here.
Rubio has said he opposes the federal stimulus program, which the bank tax is supposed to help recoup. But Rubio has also said that he, like Gov. Charlie Crist, would have used the state’s share of stimulus to help fill budget holes. From the column:
No one should be fooled by the spin. President Obama’s bank tax is not about recouping money for the American taxpayer. If President Obama were truly serious about that, he would call on Congress to repeal his failed stimulus program tomorrow so that future generations won’t be saddled with its crippling debt.

Tells you everything you need to know about Rubio’s phony “populism.” He’ll lead those Tea Partying dupes straight into the hands of the same old power elites. Like the man said, “No one ever went broke underestimating the intelligence of the American people.”

Shows how dumb some people are. Lets bail out banks, give them taxpayer money, prop em up and limit their competition. Then when the tide turns, lets tax em and say we are solving the problem.
Why not just let them fail?
This tax is ill concieved. But typical from Washington.

Of course Rubio is opposed to a bank tax. They are a big business, after all, and like all good republicons Rubio never met a CEO he didn’t like.

Taxes are passed down to the consumer. If a corporation (with the exception of GM and Chrysler)can’t make a profit they go out of business.
The employees, investors and tax payers are all hurt. This is a shell game

Where is all this money the Obamanation propped up the banks with? It sure is not on the street in houses and automobiles. Use your brains for a minute, those that have some. When the banks got this money there should have been contracts and rules attached. Do you go to the bank and borrow money and do they tell you “don’t worry about the terms we’ll work that out later?” Of course not! Anyone would be a fool to do that! So, when Obama give the banks this money to “save our economy” was there rules and strings attached? Now, one year later Obama wants to “tax” the banks on the money they loaned to them! The next time you get a loan to buy a house or car, do you want some idiot coming along a year later with, “oh by the way we are going to tax you on those loans we let you have last year.” This is ludicrous. This is Chicago style mob actions. On the street we are worse off today tham we were last year. Less jobs, more foreclosures and loan defaults. This is not the solution. The solutions should have been thought out well in advance instead of hurry, hurry, pass it now! Just like the idiots are now doing the health care bill.

Sorry, are you able to tell me where Ted Deutch stands on immigration, how about Debbie “Haiti is our 69th county” Wasserman-Schultz stands on immigration. And what about Alcee Hastings. What’s his stance?
FL citizens are suffering. There are no jobs, too many have lost or fear losing their homes. We can’t afford more students into our education system.
And these demoncrats seek to bring them HERE to FL!!!
Is Deb, Ted Kendrick and Al willing to throw the elderly under the bus with CUTTING medicare for the elderly…BILLIONS are being cut. BILLIONS!
Already the democrats are planning on cutting TESTS, PROCEDURES for the elderly. “You’re too old for that operation”, “you don’t need that test”. ” At your age you need to live each day”.
That’s what’s coming. DEMONcRAT government healthcare decision making for YOU.
Your government will be TELLING your doctor what tests they can and can not use, what procedures you can or can not have.
It’s not between YOU and your doctor, the government is entering the examining room and sticking it’s nose under your hospital gown.
Get them OUT of your healthcare. They Don’t belong there.
When was the LAST time anyone successfully appealed a government decision? You’ll be dead before that happens.
NO MORE GOVERNMENT IN OUR LIVES. THEY TAXED US TO HELL (and our grandchildren’s children)try to restrict healthcare (oh, but Congress has exempted themselves from this healthcare package (Debbie, Alcee have their OWN healthcare program). Congress has portability. We won’t have it under this lousy healthcare bill. Get rid of this Pelosi driven healthcare START OVER.
Time to clear out the Demons in our government. Reclaim our country, rebalance our government. Vote out democrats. Rid the country of Pelosi’s ‘leadership’. The millionairess is OUT OF TOUCH, ARROGANT, A FAKE!
VOTE OUT DEMONcRATS!

What Rubio should have said is 1) that we will tax the big banks to get that money back that W’s Wall Streeter Treasury Secretary stampeded Congress into and 2) but only to repay the Treasury for the stimulus money Obama has misspent.

What Rubio should have said is 1) we will tax the big banks to get that money back that W’s Wall Streeter Treasury Secretary Hank Paulson stampeded Congress into spending, and 2) but only to repay the Treasury for the stimulus money that Obama and the Democrat Congres has misspent. This disappoints many of us Rubio supporters.

I have concerns about the Obama Healthcare Plan. Will it have negative effects to my mothers standard of living? Do the improvements outweigh the cons?
