Obama hands Florida $1.25 billion for rail
by Michael C. Bender | January 29th, 2010President Obama used a campaign-style town hall meeting Thursday in this politically crucial city to reinforce the themes of his State of the Union address and deliver a high-speed rail grant that could bring thousands of jobs to Florida.
The $1.25 billion in stimulus money will put Floridians to work “building the infrastructure of the future,” Obama told the crowd of about 3,000 at the University of Tampa’s Bob Martinez Sports Center.
“I’m excited. I’m going to come back down here and ride it,” he said after Vice President Joe Biden announced the stimulus grant. “Y’all have a date. When that thing is all set up, we’ll come down and check it out.”
The Tampa town hall was the president’s only event to drive forward the messages of his first State of the Union on the day after that speech. Florida voters have played a key role in electing presidents for the past two decades, and Tampa has been a key indicator for the state’s political leanings.

Sorry, this will be like his Race To The Top education money.
The federal government leaves and the residents pick up the tab.
YOU can’t depend on the government to handle the bill…it WILL cost FL taxpayers.
Time to find more revenue and not from the taxpayers’ pockets and from senior’s savings; let’s start drilling off the coast and let that revenue start paying FL’s bills. Cause they are piling up.
NO to Democrats, who seek to TAX driving in YOUR personal vehicle. The mobility ‘fee’ (read that, TAX) is being brought forth. You will be taxed on where you live (you didn’t stay in the city, you moved to the ‘open green spaces’ the FL DOT says)so you have to PAY MORE than other areas.

Democrats don’t care about flaunting their ‘previleges’, that WE tAXPAYERS funded.
Pelosi spent $101,000 for JUST”in-flight” treats on the military jets flying Pelosi and her handpicked government gang to the global warming conference in Copenhagen. It was a TWO day event!!!!
And BTW, they reserved 321 HOTEL ROOMS!
2 military jets, and 1 Gulfstream PLUS the staff’s commercial flights over!

More conservative hypocracy. The conservatives on this link are filled with so much hatred for our President and the Democrats that they can’t see the fantastic opportunity that Floridians now have to create jobs for families out of work. If you want the tax base to lower, then put more people to work paying taxes. Waging war against a country that didn’t even attack us (Iraq) is a gigantic waste of tax money, but the conservatives never said a word about that during the Bush years when “W” ran up our national debt $4.9 Trillion dollars!
