The question is used to screen applicants, NOT as instructions on childproofing a home. Sends a clear anti-gun message. Get rid of it.
Kelly Skidmore, Democrat, you are a dimwit.

You're welcome! That was exactly the point of this blog - linking to a story that we didn't have enough people to cover yesterday and, specifically, pointing out the quote from one of our local lawmakers.

Thanks again for the feedback.

Well the linked articles do not include any coverage whatsoever of this bill.

I do appreciate seeing SOME mention of it, albeit even on a blog. You do link to the Florida News Service , which has what I would consider an actual article, that goes in-depth and presents both sides.

You chose to only Kelly Skidmore's quote which was in opposition, yet included no quotes from the bill sponsor himself regarding his rational or belief as to why the bill is important.

I'm not trying to make it a negative commentary on you, if its your blog and you have your opinion on it so be it ... its more a disappointment that PalmBeachPost did not consider it worth its time to devote resources to putting out a full fledged article on the topic.

I guess if concerned with being informed about bills being passed that affect my rights, I will turn to other newspapers.
(Thanks for pointing out News Service of Florida)

Hey Dave - Thanks for the comment. Links to all of our state news stories are on the right hand side of the page, under the heading "Today's Paper."

Why doesn't the PalmBeachPost have an actual Politics "News" section.

Instead it just has this silly "postonpolitics" and distances itselfs by calling it bloggers.

Bloggers not have same ethical responsibilities, and legal ramifications for their newspapers as actual reporters.

Can we please have an actual reporter write a news article discussing this on the real PalmBeachPost website? This is actual news.

This whole section should just be an appendum to the opinion or editorial page.

That picture is grossly inflammatory.

How many stories have I read right here on the Palmbeachpost in just the last year about home owners with guns successfully defending themselves via handguns?

I suppose that in light if the attempted attack over Detroit on Christmas Day, we will have our right to wear underwear stripped from us before long. Terrorists don't kill people . . . . it's their underwear that kills people. Why is government so stupid?

The Roberts' Supreme Court just reinforced the First Amendment - McCain/Feingold is illegal restraint of a corporation's constitutional Free Speech in public political debate.

Similarly, their previous ruling clarifys the Second Amendment protects an Individual's right to Keep and to Bear Arms.

For Floridians there was never any confusion over Individual versus Militia - as FL Constitution defines Militia membership as ALL citizens of the state, regardless of any physical capabilities to fulfill the duties of such......

SO, when the attorney asks us bearded white guys IF we had ever been in the military and IF we owned any firearms, he violated our Second Amendment rights - and kicked us off his perp's case!!

Consider every day in PBC all the prosecutors and judges that routinely demand "voluntary" confiscation of firearms in non-violent cases that did not involve firearms in any way. Violations of the Second Amendment!!

Similarly, Randy Shannon may think he is mucho macho, but he violates his players Second Amendment constitutional rights when he rules they cannot legally own firearms in their personal residences. It simply is none of his business!!

A teacher with a Concealed Carry Weapons permit on school property. Yes, we need to discuss that also as to proper restrictions. The VA Tech massacre would not have occurred IF all those ROTC Military Instructors and perhaps Senior ROTC officers had been allowed or required to carry sidearms!!

NOW, will we see voluntary examination of all the laws, rules, regs, policies and practices that must be examined across the US?? Or, will the NRA and other Second Amendment protectors be forced to compel by voluminous and very expensive judicial review?
