Rubio: selling SunRail as a jobs issue is a stretch
by Michael C. Bender | December 5th, 2009
Republican U.S. Senate candidate Marco Rubio, who voted against repealing a constitutional mandate for high-speed rail (the one then-Gov. Jeb Bush called a “$25 billion mistake”), issued a warning to state lawmakers considering a plan to convince the federal government to spend $2.5 billion to build a bullet train in the state.
“We should be wary of all the promises floating around Tallahassee about how this latest round of government spending will create lasting jobs and prosperity. Rail projects have merit as transportation and infrastructure policy. But selling SunRail as a jobs issue, as Charlie Crist has chosen to do, is a stretch. If the nearly $800 billion Obama-Crist stimulus plan didn’t create the jobs they promised, how can we believe a new train system is going to live up to its promises?
“In addition, I disagree with Governor Crist’s claim that he doesn’t care where the money comes from to pay for this project. I care a lot, because it’s coming from borrowed and printed money that is ultimately coming from my children and their generation.”

In the lead. Whoops, here comes Marco the Rubio, in third place right behind Cabbage…….. He’s trying
to pass on the rail side, chewing gum still sticking to the rail in fourth place. Marco the Rubio passes
the cabbage and now its Charlie the Crist in the lead with Marco the Rubio gaining fast………………….
Whoops, Charlie the Crist is struggling, he’s looking back at the jockey, he’s losing his gain, it looks like
The jockey may have lost his jock strap, Marco the Rubio is gaining, whoops it looks like Charlie the Crist,
Oh No! Charlie the Crist has stumbled and fell, its Marco the Rubio out and ahead, its Marco the Rubio
To the finish line, Cabbage in second place six lengths behind. Quick, get us some coverage about what
Happened to the Charlie the Crist…….. The official report is: Charlie the Crist, an old show horse;

Once passed, the healthcare bill will place much of the healthcare burdens on the State. The State will start collecting more money from all.
Just wait…2010…you’ll see increased taxing is kicking in. Prices are going up.
Crist will join the democrats, if elected and in so doing, will compromise our earned dollars.
NO to Crist. Republicans need to come out in the primary and vote. That’s where the race will be decided.

All you good republicants start plotting you strategy. Post your long winded , mindless bloviated theories. All in vain though.

As a Democrat, I will vote for Crist. Of course the rail will not only create jobs, it will enable companies to hire and keep employees who can get to work at a reasonable cost. Should gas go back up to $6.00 a gallon, people will demand more money from employers or move out of the state. As commerce grows, so will the commercial traffic on our roads. That’s why the New Jersey turnpike divides commercial traffic on one side, and business and leisure on the other. Rubio is so dumb on this issue that he will lose to Crist.

Can Florida continue to build roads to handle an increase in commerce? I don’t think we can without paying a high financial and environmental cost. Public rails and transit makes a lot of sense.
December 5th, 2009 at 1:24 pm
public rails and transit systems all lose money and the state or local govt foot the bill to keep them in operation, this would just be another burden on florida’s already budget shortfall.so if you want higher realestate taxes, gasoline taxes and possible state income taxes go for it,if not now is the time to voice your opposition!!!!!
