Gov. Crist tells of hurricane prayer left at Israel’s Western Wall
by Jennifer Sorentrue | December 4th, 2009JUPITER — Gov. Charlie Crist briefly addressed a crowd of about 200 people at Temple Beth Am tonight, calling the relationship between Israel and the United States “special.”
Crist, a Methodist, told the crowd at Friday night’s Shabbat services about his 2007 trip to Israel to encourage trade with Florida.
During the trip, Crist said former Democratic Rep. Robert Wexler encouraged him to insert a note with a prayer at the Western Wall, a holy site in Jerusalem where prayers are traditionally placed. The note asked, “Dear God, please protect our Florida from storms and other difficulties.”
There was no hurricane that year.
“I thought, ‘this is good,’” Crist told the crowd.
In the two years since his trip, Crist has asked friends traveling to Israel to place similar notes at the wall.
And still no hurricanes.
“God is good,” Crist said to the crowd.
Crist also paused to remember the four people, including a 6-year-old girl, killed by gunman in Jupiter on Thanksgiving Day.
“We pray for those who have left us,” he said.
Crist’s address was part of the temple’s “community leaders forum,” a monthly series.
Next month, Congressman Alcee Hastings is scheduled to address the congregation about Israel and the Jewish community.

The State needs a senator who will be a fiscal conservative. That’s NOT Crist.
The primaries will decide our new senator.

I left a pray that maybe Charlie the Liar Crist will just pack up and leave before he totally destroys the state.

Charlie is a liar and cannot be trusted
He will do or say anything to win his next election but unfortunately the people in Florida are wise to his game.
I wonder if his wife will leave him once he is the official popper scooper?

Crist can’t be trusted but remember that Wexler helped him get there too…no surprise.
Wexler just endorsed Deutch and that blond with no brains. This should tell people to wake up.
We need something different….

So in 2004 and 2005 no one remembered to pray for no hurricanes? Or is that ordinary peoples prayers don’t get heard?
A prayer isn’t any more powerful based on the location of prayer or the importance of the person praying, and its kinda doubtful 04 and 05 hurricane season were affected by lack of prayers, Charly put your over inflated ego away, you are no different than the rest of the political egomaniacs running this country, liberal and conservative alike. What an idiot!

So Charlie thinks he has a personal pipeline to God via The Wall? I don’t think he would be using that speech if we did have a hurricane despite his “prayer”, or would he be claiming then that God carried us through it to get elected to the senate? I think he really put a prayer note asking for Devine Intervention to win the election instead of the no hurricane prayer – he’s gonna need it…

Sure, the planet has granted us reprieves from damaging hurricanes. But what has Crist (not Christ) done to make sure our State is solvent in the event God’s plan calls for strong winds? Not a damn thing. Remember, folks? Property taxes were supposed to drop like a rock. Homeowner’s insurance was supposed to drop like a rock. Thing is, Charlie, the only thing that has dropped like a rock are our values. Oh, yeah, and your approval ratings. Chuck is a self-serving buffoon. Please, Floridians, bring on Marco Rubio. Let’s give straight talk, leadership and problem solving a real chance.

I cannot believe that Crist would bring that prayer offering to light……Prayers are really not meant to be used to get votes..They are personal messages to the ALMIGHTY not intended to pander for votes..
Give me a break!

Charlie Crist is gross. Isn’t this using the Lord’s name in vain…to use it for your own personal gain? He should have faked some tears while he told the story – that would have been icing on the cake, Charlie.
Crist is about as insincere as they come, and his attempts to paint hinself as a Christian or conservative is just ridiculous.
Charlie, go left or go right, but stop trying to be all things to all people. Aren’t we tired of pandering, insincere politicians like Charlie Crist??? Let’s get rid of this clown once and for all. Florida doesn’t need this panderer in the US Senate. Rubio or Meek – either one would be worlds better than Crist. At least they have convictions.

So, Gov, if we have a storm, will that make God bad? Try praying without ceasing and worshipping in spirit. It doesn’t cost the taxpayers as much as going to Jerusalem. It might actually get you through a storm, instead of just trying to avoid them.

Perhaps then we shall see if the Almighty will withhold the winds next season. A hurricane on or just before primary day should now be understood as a clear sign that God supports Rubio. Shucking Chuckles should be more careful than this, lest the Almighty smack him down for his pharisaical hubris.
