Crist says it’s a great idea for Jaguars to draft Tebow

Asked about rumors that poor attendance will fuel a Jacksonville Jaguars move to Los Angeles, Gov. Charlie Crist said the team should draft Florida Gators QB Tim Tebow.
“I’ve actually talked to the ownership about that. I think it’d be great,” Crist told reporters. Crist also said the team owners thought it was “not a bad idea.”
“Well I hope they stay here, obviously,” Crist said. ” We’re certainly blessed to have the Buccaneers, the Dolphins and the Jaguars. And hopefully we’ll get the Cubs, too, for spring training. We’re working on that.
Asked about the Jaguars attendance, Crist said, “Hopefully it will get better next week.”

You see, this is why Gov. Sarah Palin resigned.
Crist and Gov. Pawlenty should take a cue: don’t campaign on public time, and don’t take public dollars for such nonsense politicking on the job.

Crist is trying to take credit where he doesn’t deserve it. Two months ago sports radio (Dan Patrick) was talking about this possibility. In fact the team had already started to deploy research to see how much this would potentially increase ticket sales after they lost 17,000 season ticket holders.
They said “not a bad idea” because it was their idea!
Hey Charlie, anything else you feel like taking credit for?

Seems to me that Crist is taking after Obama in trying to get in the private sector’s business.

Interesting comment seeing as how Crist is an FSU grad. I think that Tim’s future is in the ministry though and not football. (Not that he couldn’t play in the NFL) I seem to remember a certain FSU Heisman trophy winner that never played in the NFL either but did fine in another line of work. (Charlie Ward) Anyway, good luck Tim whatever you do! We at FSU are glad to see you graduate!

[...] 1:45 p.m. Palm Beach Post: Meanwhile in Florida, Gov. Crist says he is working on getting the Cubs to move to Florida. And he adds that he has told the Jaguars to draft Tim Tebow to help keep the team in Jacksonville (and the coaches like the idea!). This is apparently part of his sports-themed economic development plan. [...]
