ACORN embraces Wexler theory, sues over congressional money cut-off

by George Bennett | November 12th, 2009

Wexler

Wexler

Break out your copy of the U.S. Constitution for an old-fashioned Article I, Section IX brouhaha.

When U.S. Rep. Robert Wexler and some other Democrats voted against cutting off federal money to scandal-plagued liberal group ACORN, they argued that de-funding the group was an unconstitutional “bill of attainder.”

The measure passed on a 345-75 vote with local U.S. Reps. Ron Klein, D-Boca Raton, and Tom Rooney, R-Tequesta, in favor, Wexler opposed and U.S. Rep. Alcee Hastings, D-Miramar, answering “present.”

Now ACORN has filed a federal suit challenging the congressional action on bill-of-attainder grounds.

Wexler is the guy that was supposed to live in the district he represents, but was really living in Maryland. He’s a Democrat puppet.

  2. Billy Says:

Why do you think he is stepping down.
    He had to do something…GUILTY.

  3. Big Daddy Says:

The government is probably going to take the stance that it was a precautionary move and I have to agree with them. If this all proves to be just a big understanding, then the government would probably apologize and give them even more funding because they were cleared. As it stands now, they look like a organization that promotes anarchy in the name of help the government reach the people. A money grubbing non-profit that is onlyu concerned with losing funding that will cause them to go out and get real jobs.

What gets meis that they will probably spend as much money fighting this thing as they would have gotten in grants from the government, but that they need to keep up appearances so private donors will start sending they monies again.

  4. Chris Says:

ACORN should lose their non-profit status. This organization is a fraud laden embarrassment to this country. I wonder which high ranking government officials have been a part of Acorn in the past?

  5. Ben Dover Says:

WHAT! No more money for hookers, pimps and drug dealers?! thats messed up! LMAO!

  6. LicensedToSteal Says:

This organization should be shut down. Corruption started with its founder and they remain corrupt. I don’t want my tax dollars supporting this useless organization.

  7. Sammy Says:

    Throw the bums out.

  8. Too Much Says:

If you are tired of the game playing in Washington and want to rebalance the government, vote in 2010 and 2012…vote out democrats.

There is no balance. The extremists have the power.

Vote out democrats. Wexler and his endorsed candidate, Ted Deutch are cut from the same cloth.

Vote out democrats…from the mayor, to the commissioners, to council to school board to state reps to senators and governors.

    Balance government.

And just wait….more taxing coming to residents of PB County…via Burt Aaronson is termed out, so he doesn’t care. Look to those who side with Burt to NOT re-elect them.

  9. Observer Says:

ACORN should definitely lose their non profit status. Their policies encourage cheating, lying, malfeasance and tendentious behavior. Their current agenda has long ago abandoned its original intent of giving voice to the disenfranchised. In its present state it is merely a vehicle for garnering as much taxpayer dollars as it can for self-enrichment of its own criminal hierarchy and community pawns.

  10. Jodie Brown Says:

I am just glad he resigned!
