The reason that FP&L, and Florida power are saying they can charge for a power plant (nuclear) before it is buiolt? That was the 2006 Energy Bill JEB BUSH passed, when CHARLIE CRIST was Atty General, HAROLD MCLEAN was Office of Public Counsel chief, and MIKE TWOMEY was AARP representative. Non of these advacates challenged the passing of the BILL in the Legislature, and Senators Argenziano and FASANO, who are now "quote unquote" fighting against the PSC docket vote? They VOTED for the bill in 2006.
The 2005 CONSENT ORDER that allowed FP&L to raise base rates before the PSC approved them this year? That was AGRRED TO in a Consent order signed by MCLEAN, CRIST, and AARP-TWOMEY. Take your pick for blame.
I dont want to do Monday Morning quarterback with the Quarterback that dropped the ball during the GAME.
 The reason

Pay now or pay later. The PSC has a very short sighted view and are not looking at the long term effect on Florida. Their view will actually work - Florida quits growing - Unemployment moves to record highs - Anyone of working age leaves the state for states that have a growth perspective

Yes the PSC regulates Monopolies that we can not live with out while allowing a profit!
I am paying in advance for a nuclear reactor that I will never own, never get a discount for and never be repaid for the loan myself and every other Progress energy customer now pay them every month.
Someone dropped the ball on this.

Once upon a time, the PSC's duty was to assure that utility companies in Florida made a certain percentage of profit. Whether it was net profit or gross profit, I don't remember. Now would be a good time to guarantee the utility companies that profit again and tell the thieves on Wall Street that they're not needed. And also to not allow any lawyer/lobbyist presentations to any member or employee of the PSC or their families.
