House votes 345-75 to cut off ACORN money; Wexler votes “no” and Hastings answers “present”

The U.S. House joined the U.S. Senate this afternoon in voting to cut off any federal money to scandal-plagued ACORN.

The vote was 345-75 to attach a Republican anti-ACORN measure to a student aid bill. All 75 “no” votes came from Democrats, including U.S. Robert Wexler, D-Boca Raton. Wexler considers the language unconstitutional, a spokesman said.

U.S. Reps. Ron Klein, D-Boca Raton, and Tom Rooney, R-Tequesta, supported the measure.

U.S. Rep. Alcee Hastings, D-Miramar, answered “present.”

The left-leaning Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now has been under fire since a pair of guerrilla videographers — one of them a 20-year-old minister’s daughter who attends Florida International University — posed as a prostitute and a pimp and captured hidden-camera footage of ACORN employees offering advice on how to set up a brothel and conceal the income.

ACORN has ordered an independent investigation.

Uhh yyyeaaa. right.. Wexler. Start looking for another job, dude. That doesn’t pass the smell test.

    Vote Wexler out!

  2. darrell Says:

Is that 375 members of Congress that are RAAACCCIISSTTT? Including 172 Democrats?

  3. tony gallagher Says:

Wexler is a fraud. Whether it’s his residence or block vote purchases. We should all be ashamed to have someone of his caliber representing this country in any capacity.

  4. tony gallagher Says:

Vote them all out. One term to run your deals and then you’re on the street. Start today.

  5. badshark Says:

    OK
So Mr. Wexler’s philosophy is to vote “yes” for plunging our nation into irreconcilable debt, but “no” to stopping funding for an orginization promoting child prostitution based on “unconstiutionality”? Really? Perplexing to say the least.
Just want to make sure I got this.
The unemployment line will grow in 2010!
    Vote American!

  6. Boca Voter Says:

Government taking a positive step to defund a fraudulent organization…

Wexler says… lets keep the fraud funded.

Vote Wexler out !!! Un-freakin Beleiveable.

How can we tolerate such a representative.

  7. Mike Williams Says:

Hastings is my district Rep. but he doesn’t represent me so to speak. He is too busy helping illegal Haitian aliens and undermining anything for American citizens benefit. To be silent in the protest of Acorn’s corrupt behavior fits a crooked judge who was once impeached.

  8. Victor Bass Says:

OK Wexler it is going to be a pleasure to create a ground swell campaign against you to NOT be re-elected.

  9. Marla Says:

Maybe its because Wexler know that it is because of Acorn that stole the election for Hillary and Wexler made sure the votes didn’t count.

Seriously buddy you are pretty sad. You think that you are going to run things in Palm Beach County like the 25, 90 and Commission campaigns. Full circle everything comes full circle.

Its not that we don’t like you because you are a Democrat its because you are a fraud and you only care about yourself.

  10. Joan Says:

Guerrilla videographers? Really? I never heard the undercover stories done by 60 minutes called that term? Is the reporter that does “To catch a predator” a guerrila videographer?

And what difference does it make who her father is? The videographers are adults and don’t need their parents permission. I could care less if she’s a ministers daughter, a prostitute’s daugher, or whatever. I’m not really clear how that adds substance to the story – which about stripping funds from ACORN. What does her lineage have to do with that? Those kind of statements make the reporter look snarky and bitter, and less likely for me to believe that the reporter can report objectively.

  11. Richard Says:

The language is unconstitutional, whether you like it or not. You cannot target an individual organization in legislation. Its called a bill of attainder. It will be struck down in court. There are solutions to the ACORN problem. But this is not one of them.

  12. PBC Teacher Says:

    Right on Joan:

The reporter is a doush who needs to go back to school to learn how to report.

  13. a goldstein Says:

wexler is an Obama flunkey. He obviously supports a radical left wing organization. Voters need to remember this, and come election day, send Wexler home.

  14. ted Says:

Wexler move to Chicago they’ll love you there! Even Klein has more sense than you. Are you or have you ever been a member of ACORN?

  15. bernie Says:

the people on the recordings that worked for acorn, they didnt seem that sharp, if that is the level of people they have running their offices, i can only imagine what else has been done,

how much do you think those people are getting paid.

  16. Chris Says:

Not surprised. These guys are both frauds! Vote em out.

  17. fone Says:

  21. darrell Says:

    Lemming,

Why is it folks like you can’t complete a sentence without Glenn Beck and Fox News? Can you ever actually address the issue without resorting to gross stereotypes or boogeymen?

Do you think ACORN should continue to receive American taxpayer money?

  22. lemming #1,245, 398 Says:

    Glenn is my leader….all hail!!!

  23. Boca Grande Says:

    Richard-

There is NO right for any organization to receive public funds. Congress has the authority to pull funding from any organization or govt agency at its discretion- this act is not the equivalent of a bill of attainder- it’s defunding an organization that is engaging in overtly criminal activity. Whether they are convicted or not will ultimately be settled in the court system. For Wexler to continue to support funding this organization with Public Monies is beyond insane- but apparently he feels like his seat in Congress is untouchable. We’ll see about that.
