Pat Rooney Jr. leaning toward state House run; decision in September
by George Bennett | August 31st, 2009Rooney, a Republican, is eyeing the state House District 83 seat of state Rep. Carl Domino, R-Jupiter, who faces term limits in 2010 and is running for state Senate.
Republicans already in the race: Nancy Cardone, Francisco Rodriguez and Nick Wukoson. Former Palm Beach Gardens Councilman Hal Valeche — who ran against Tom Rooney in the 2008 GOP congressional primary — is also looking at the race. Democrats Tony Arena, Gary Lew and Mark Marciano have also filed for the District 83 seat.

Go for it Pat! It would be great to have a Rooney political dynasty in Palm Beach County. The Kennedy’s were only part-timers. And it would be poetic justice having Hal Valeche in the race. He ran the most disgusting and vile primary race I’ve ever seen. Pat will mop the voting booth floor with that lying SOB.

I agree with Dean. Both Tom and Pat have great potential.
I believe Tom will eventually make his way to the U.S. Senate and will be an attractive V.P. candidate at some point and maybe more.
And Governor Pat Rooney has a nice sound to it.

I am concerned about what his true intentions are in running!
We see his dog Track in the news facing major changes in losing slot machines with a deal Christ signed with the Seminoles and now he is “leaning” to run. Is he just now thinking about running because he thinks he can help the family business? Why is he still “leaning”? What is he waiting on? How passionate about this is he really? What are his values and views? Is he just a name hoping that alone will get him elected? Isnt that how the GOP lost their conservative ways, by electing someone with a popular last name? It is time for real change, real voices and conservative views. Vote for the individual and their views, not a name.

Richard, I’ll bet you’re really Hal Valeche. Your post is typical of the negative comments and innuedo we’ve come to expect from you. But Pat will do just as Tom did and ignore you and watch you sink. Your slimeball campaign is still fresh in the minds of voters.

Sorry June, not anyone you know. Just wondering how there can be so many great comments about someone because of his family name. If he brings great values and is really about representing the people, and not just following the road his family wants him to follow, then great! My vote goes to the person who will do the best job in Tally for me and my family. And we have seen way too many people elected because of how much money their family donates before. Is it wrong to ask why he hasnt announced yet? He has been “thinking” and “leaning” about it for a while now. What is his hesitation? It is a red flag in my book.

I am concerned of Pat Rooney Jr.’s intentions in running for this seat. He has too many ties to the Dog Tracks and will have an alternative motive for running for this seat. He is more concerned in protecting his investment with possibly losing his slot machines with the new Seminole Compact that Charlie Crist has signed. We must elect someone in any district that will truly represent the people and not their own self interests. A person running on their own interests will be seen for that in this political environment. I believe he will not be looking out for the common person that is struggling day to day and not looking to become even richer through pushing through legislation that would benefit his own wallet. We need a fair and honest person to be the representative and not someone that has movitives that are shaky at best. I agree with Richard in regarding to voting on name recognition. This is how we get into trouble with other relatives that may have the wrong motivies for trying aquire more power through the government.
