Hastings to join Wexler at Thursday’s health care forum
by Bob King | August 19th, 2009You can add another political bigwig to Thursday’s health care forum at the South County Civic Center near Delray Beach, which is already attracting lots of attention from both supporters and opponents of Democratic health-care proposals: U.S. Rep. Alcee Hastings, a Democrat from Miramar, says he’s going to join the already-announced Robert Wexler.
According to an e-mail from Hastings chief of staff Lale M. Mamaux:
“I just wanted to give you the heads up that Congressman Hastings will be participating in the town hall meeting tomorrow hosted by the Florida Alliance for Retired Americans. During the August recess he has met with physicians, home health care representatives, health underwriters, hospital officials, nurses, patients, and representatives from a community health center to discuss health care reform.”
Once again, this is an event put on by the Florida Alliance for Retired Americans, which said it was requiring tickets and giving preference to members. Feel free to contact them for more information.

The opponents of healthcare reform are wrong. This is the 21st Century and health care, climate warming, the way we conduct business, available jobs, the consumer base (as India and China, with their huge populations, become more economically functional)will change. We need to lead the change, not be dragged along. Opponents of change are wrong. There will be no status quo. Change will happen whether or not we like it. Better to be in charge of change.

If the member of the House and Senate, along with their advocates, think the HealthCare legislation is that great why do our elected representatives have their own plan outside of Medicare and Social Security? Make it mandatory that they too become part of the system not part of the elite.
