Rush billboard in WPB inches closer

by Michael C. Bender | March 10th, 2009

Updating this item, the Democratic National Committee announced today the top five submissions for the group’s anti-Rush Limbaugh billboard in West Palm Beach:

*Americans didn’t vote for a Rush to failure

*Hope and change cannot be Rush’d

*Failure is not an option for America’s future

*We can fix America, just don’t Rush it

*Rush: Say yes to America

The slogan that gets the most votes on the DNC Web site will be pasted on a billboard in West Palm, where Limbaugh broadcasts his show. Democrats are taking aim at Limbaugh, hoping to capitalize on his divisive reputation, by forcing Republican leaders to choose between supporting President Obama or Limbaugh’s comments at the Conservative Action Political committee last month that he hoped Obama would fail:

“Why in the world do I want … rampant government growth, indebtedness, wealth that’s not even being created yet that is being spent? What is this? What possibly is in this that anybody of us wants to succeed?”

Republican Gov. Charlie Crist, who refused to name the top leader in the Republican Party on Meet the Press, told Chris Mathews on MSNBC that, “I want the president to succeed.”

“I want to do everything I can to make sure that my president succeeds. Because this is my country. And I want our country to be successful.”

Meanwhile, the Republican National Committee is shooting back today, marking Obama’s 50th day in office as “no golden anniversary.”

So - you are responding to negativity with negativity. Like 4 years olds in a sandbox. Let’s just all get along. You don’t want to alienate all the republicans - we don’t all agree with Rush and we vote.

  2. Jo Wilson Says:

Please don’t use that photo of Rush - it’s been connected to Pres.Obama and does harm to the president’s image.
2 or 3 of the submissions on the board would say more - no graphic needed (unless you want to use a still of Rush jumping and sweaty at CPAC meeting).
It’s about time Democrats responded with some negativity - go for it!

  3. Helen Says:

I think this is so funny how “Rush” has the Liberal’s running like a Fox chasing a rabbit . lol

You liberals are wasting money on a billboard? So elementary.

  4. RJS Says:

    How about this’
    “THE TRUTH HURTS”

    Go Rush

  5. cvt Says:

    Rush,I’ve got a 3 word suggestion:

    TORQUE IT UP

  6. Sarah Says:

The democrats should be more worried about our economy and the trillions their spending that we the taxpayers have to pay but their more worried about what Rush is saying. Well, if you think he is so wrong than have YOUR great one join him on his radio show to have a debate. Oh, I forgot, he needs his teleprompter.

  7. obama is erkle Says:

Obama/Erkle needs a Billboard: “no earmarks” (lie); no lobbyists in Cabinet (lie); ethical cabinet (lie, tax cheats), my friend blew-up the Pentagon (truth) and Michelle doesn’t look like a sausage in those dresses (lie). Go home pretender and buy back your Senate seat!!

  8. truthfairy Says:

What a hoot! All the dummies can to is attack an entertainer. How about Rush to the edge of a cliff.

  9. Ric Says:

HA! Stupid Dummiecrats. If you Dummies are so confident about your guy, why on earth do you have to engage Rush? I mean, you’re in charge of Congress AND the White House. Why does Rush’s opinion matter to you? You jackasses are so transparent. Obviously, your party’s poll numbers are tanking, and you need to ‘Alinsky’ someone to prevent the avalanche of negative poll stats.

  10. Bill Slowsky Says:

Wah! Wah! Wah! The Demo-Craps don’t like Rush. Grow up and fix the economy, Stupid.

  11. trb Says:

This is amazing. Obama has been a complete flop so far, the economy is tanking even worse, all of Obama’s “supporters” are running for cover but the Democrats are going to beat up on Rush. This is the hope and change that we all were promised. And all of you Obama supporters are flocking to it like ignorant little sheep. Don’t look at the big problem brewing that I promised to fix. Just focus on Rush, he is the real problem. What a fraud he perpitrated on all of you and now you are in too deep to admit you fell for it.

  12. JK Says:

This billboard is an extremely poor idea. This is the type of thing that will surely increase listenership to Rush’s show. Oh well, whoever thought of it will feel better about their holier-than-thou self.

  13. Nick Says:

Anyone with a half of brain would see this for what it is….a desperate attempt by the dems to create a DIVERSION from the reality of what’s really going on at the WhiteHouse & on the Hill. Something to enhance the love affair with the “the people” and especially the drive-bys…
Where is the outrage regarding ALL of the Cabinet head tax cheats handpicked by the messiah himself? Where is the outrage of the failed campaign promises of “Hope & Change”? Where is the outrage of the out of control spending and pork loaded stimulus package… Wake Up America, it’s not about Rush!

  14. Emman Says:

There’s nothing to save anyway. GOP is taking aim to the newly picked democrat candidate for 20th congressional election Scott Murphy for refusing to accept his responsibility even documents proved that he has outstanding tax cases.

Stimulus Bill won’t save the economy and so the people of America. Because, the overall impact is much of what we need. Out of $787B package, around $290B comes in the form of tax cuts, $100B business tax cuts and etch. All of which goes to the top 10% of the income distribution. It is really nothing in the package.

Billions foreclosures fillings and bankruptcy is what dragging down the net worth of the economy. I think Obama is going down very similar path to the Bush administration. I really disappointed with the 1st month of Obama administration.

Scott Murphy for Congress Tax Liens

  15. Mike in VA Says:

    Here’s Rush’s own suggestion:
“Your government spent $3 trillion to help you. You got a $13 raise, everybody happy? Shut up.”

  16. litebulb Says:

What wrong with the following for that sign:

Rush knew Obama = One Big Ass Mistake America

  17. Will Says:

Looking for someone to blame doesn’t fix the problem, it is only a distraction for the underlined problems of an administration and a incompatant President.Take charge and fix the economy . I think I’m about to loose my job like many others and this really PISSES me off.The Goverment should stay out of our lifes and do the specific deads they were impowered to do.

  18. Jackie Whitley Says:

Rush is right just ask the stock market !

  19. Gary Rose Says:

It dosen’t look like Obama or his cabnet is paying any attention to Rush. It took the last guy 8 years to f%*k this up, if you think 60 days will fix it, your all just fools.

  20. marti Says:

If obama is successful, the US may become like Cuba and Venezuela. He is a wolf in sheep’s clothing.

  21. Gary Rose Says:

Marti- How would you know that? Everything he’s doing is right out in the open. Not like our last guy. He did a good job RIGHT!!
