Tale of two retreats

by Michael C. Bender | November 19th, 2008

Florida House Democrats and Republicans are holding separate legislative retreats today, both paid for by lobbyists but at different ends of the financial spectrum.

The Republican Party of Florida is putting up 74 of their 76 House members today through Friday at WaterColor, a $400-a-night resort in Santa Rosa Beach sitting on 1,500 linear feet of coastline not far from House Speaker Ray Sansom’s home.

Democrats? They’re meeting in the slightly less glamorous third-floor conference room at the Florida Education Association headquarters in downtown Tallahassee.
