Poll: Obama slight lead; Martinez ‘vulnerable’

A new poll by Public Policy Polling shows that Barack Obama has rebounded in Florida and now holds a razor-thin edge over John McCain in the state.
But the poll also outlines potential trouble for U.S. Sen. Mel Martinez. In a hypothetical 2010 matchup against Florida CFO Alex Sink, Martinez trails 31 percent to 37 percent. Against U.S. Rep. Robert Wexler, the poll shows both candidates at 33 percent with undecided at 34 percent.
The poll is good news for Obama, who trailed McCain 50-39 in March, at the height of the contrversy over Obama’s former pastor, Jeremiah Wright.
“It’s a long way until November, but Barack Obama would be looking at an Electoral
College landslide if the election was today,” said Dean Debnam, the president of Public
Policy Polling.
“Our polls in Florida and Michigan over the last two weeks have also
served as confirmation that controversy over the seating of the two states’ delegations at
the convention is not causing the Democratic Party any long term issues.”
The poll found Martinez has a lot of work to do before 2010. Only 23 percent of voters polled approved of Martinez’s job performance; 43 percent disapproved.
The poll of 723 likely voters conducted from June 26 to June 29 has a margin of error of plus or minus 3.6 percent, which means the Obama-McCain race is well within the margin of error.
A Wexler aide was asked if this poll represents Wexler’s opening salvo in a race against Martinez. The response was: “He’s certainly not ruling anything out.”

Nice poll – isn’t that polling company affiliated with the Sierra Club and the National Education Association?

Polls are a matter of accuracy and validity. Right now the biased numbers are flying around because of their know effect on campaign contributions. Keep your money in your pockets until they give us a decent candidate!

It’s a nonsense poll but one that the Post would report because of their bias. Anyway, doesn’t really matter what the voters do in Palm Beach Aggregates County. Wexler’s boy Art Anderson will screw it all up.
