Jeb Bush’s “national” education summit
by Palm Beach Post Staff | November 29th, 2007The Foundation for Excellence in Education — Former Gov. Jeb Bush’s Foundation for Florida’s Future’s new spinoff group — is planning “Excellence in Action: A National Summit on Education Reform” in Orlando next June.
Featured speakers so far include himself, his mom, former first lady Barbara Bush, and pro-voucher TV journalist John Stossel. The conference will be held at Walt Disney World’s Contemporary Resort on June 19-20, said foundation spokeswoman Tiffany Koenigkramer.
Careful readers will note the lack of the word “Florida” in the new group’s name. Could Bush be setting up the framework for a presidential run, much as the Foundation for Florida’s Future was used as a placeholder for Bush’s 1998 campaign for governor? And could the timing of the event, ten weeks before the Republican Party’s presidential nominating convention in Minneapolis, have been designed to create a high profile as the GOP nominee settles on a running mate?
“No,” Koenigkramer said, adding that the group is a registered charity designed solely to advance “education reform” throughout the nation. “It’s as simple as that.”

Jeb and Barbara who?…What do they know about education except to run it into the ground…sure that’s exactly what we need more dumbing down of America’s youth. Jeb should go run his oil wells and his mom needs to watch the new windmill turn on the Maine property and stay out of the realm of education.

At least Sharish is placing his biases all the way up in the headline now. Perhaps he never noticed that Jeb Bush was speaking nationally about education reform while he was still governor. At least he’s never been able to ascend to a paper of any relevance.
