HASTINGS, WASSEREMAN SCHULTZ ENDORSE WEXLER

by llipman@coxnews.com | April 20th, 2007

U.S. Reps. Alcee Hastings and Debbie Wasserman Schultz have lost no time in endorsing their colleague, Rep. Robert Wexler.

Hastings and Wasserman Schultz sent out the following news release today:

“An unrelenting, passionate, intelligent, and deeply committed advocate on
behalf of the people of his district, Robert Wexler is a tremendous
Congressman and a true friend. Robert is effective and delivers every
single day for the people of Broward and Palm Beach Counties. His
commitment to his constituents and all South Florida residents is matched
by no one in the House of Representatives,” said Representative Hastings.

“Congressman Wexler led the charge against those who stole the 2000
Presidential Election and is the loudest voice in Florida fighting for a
paper trail on all of our election equipment. From fighting to reduce the
cost of prescription drugs to extending the solvency of Social Security to
making sure that support for Israel in the United States remains strong
and secure, Robert Wexler is our champion. Every Floridian benefits from
the work that Robert does in the House of Representatives. Indeed, there
is no other person more fit to represent the people of Florida 19th
Congressional District than Robert Wexler. He not only has my
endorsement, but my commitment to do whatever it takes to re-elect him to
the House of Representatives.”

“Robert Wexler’s tireless advocacy for the people of the 19th
Congressional District served as a role model for me when I was first
elected to Congress,” said Rep. Wasserman Schultz.

“Robert’s steadfast
support of Israel and his commitment to ensuring long term regional
stability in the Middle East is recognized by his colleagues throughout
the House who often turn to Robert for advice on these issues. Whether it
is fighting to protect Florida’s environment from the harmful effects of
offshore oil drilling, or working to insure a rapid response to impending
hurricanes, few are as forceful as Robert in representing the concerns of
the people of South Florida in our state delegation meetings. On the
Judiciary Committee, where we serve together, Robert has led the fight for
privacy and civil rights protections. I can think of no one better suited
to represent the constituents of the 19th Congressional District than
Robert and I pledge my full support for his re-election efforts.”
